South Africa's Eastern Cape is a highly unique region. It has evolved into our second home. You'll go on this journey of a lifetime more than once in your lifetime!
We travel once more to see and hunt with our wonderful friends at John X Safaris every year. Since 2018, we have been hosting visitors and friends at Rock Water Ranch. We currently provide trips during their prime hunting season, which runs from March through August, as well as again during their late season, which runs from September to October.

Late Season Safaris
- 5 Day Safari 1 Hunter x 1 PH $2,950/Person **You will have your own PH and Team, but you share your room with another hunter or observer.
- 5 Day Safari 2 Hunter x 1 PH $2,450/Person **You share a room and PH and Team with another hunter. This is only available if you book with the second hunter.
- 5 Day Safari Observer with Hunter $1,850/Person. ** This is only available to someone that comes with a hunter and will be sharing the room with that hunter except in the case of family children.

Additional Information for Prime Season Safaris
- Plane tickets range based on time of year purchased, time of year traveling, where you are traveling from and many other factors out of your control. 2022 and 2023 saw rates from $1,200 to $2,200 per person round trip.
- We now have an In House Licensed Travel Agent. This ensures continuity for all our trips as many members of each trip depart from various places. We work to get the entire group together at the earliest point along the way. We also handle any transfers, hotel room and additional excursion booking that are required or requested. Basically, we hold your hand throughout the entire process.
- Observer rates $2,435 - 7 day safari per observer
- Observer rates $3,300 - 10 day safari per observer
- Have your safari professionally videoed for $1,750 (7 day) or $2,250 (10 day) "WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND"
- Standard Rifle Rental $200/ safari plus cost of ammunition
- Long Range Rifle Rental $300/ safari plus cost of ammunition (GunWerks)

Deposits & Payments
Late Season Deposits are $1,000 per person. Prime Season Deposits are $2,000 per person.
All deposits and any payments you would like to make can be made to Rock Water Ranch. Any outstanding balance or add ones once in Africa you can pay to either Rock Water Ranch or John X Safaris.
Taxidermy & Shipping
You have a couple options for taxidermy.
Option 1 is leave it in South Africa and Splitting Image Taxidermy will take it from John X Safaris and work with you directly to get your order just the way you want it. It usually take 8 to 10 months from the time you put your deposit down on your order to get the work back to the US. Splitting Image has two prices for us as well. Late Season Rates and Prime Season Rates. The late season rates are roughly 20% lower than regular season rates. Splitting Image also has monthly payment plans for our guest if you choose to take that option.
Option 2 is have your order shipped back to the US for your taxidermist of choice to complete the work. Your fees for this will be dip and pack service plus shipping.
All shipping charges have to be prepaid before it is shipped. Currently the rates are not consistent because of the pandemic, but they will search for the best available option either ship or plane.
Clearing Customs, Dept. of Agriculture & US Fish & Wildlife
Once your order has been paid for and shipping has be arranged it has to be cleared here in the US. There are companies that do this for you. We use and recommend Pro Cargo. They file all pertinent paperwork and permits and make it a seamless process. The rates for this average about $700 per safari, but this varies based on what you have brought in as well as fees that are associated with the process.
Once cleared your order can be delivered to your house, office or where ever you want or you can pick it up at Pro Cargo in Houston, Texas. We have a delivery side of our business available and if you're interested please get with us to discuss rates for delivery.
Addition Trophy Fee List
The current rate sheet for John X Safaris listed below is intended to help you plan your safari. If you are purchasing any of the above packages and are adding additional animals, you only pay the listed rate for that animal added to your package. You are not charged for any additional daily ph fees, observer fees, trophy handling fees. No that's all included in our packages. Also the year you book your safari with a deposit, you lock in that year's rate! Again, if you have an questions don't hesitate to call.
